◆印伝という名前の由来
「印伝（いんでん）」という名称には、いくつかの説があります。そのひとつが、「インデア」もしくは「印度伝来」の言葉が変化したというものです。
江戸時代初期の寛永年間、外国船の来航時にインド装飾革が幕府に献上されたと記録されており、その際に人々はその華やかな意匠と異国の雰囲気に強く心を奪われました。
やがて、その美しさを模して日本国内で生産されるようになった革工芸品に「印伝」という名がつけられたと伝えられています。遥かなるインドやシルクロードへの憧れと、異文化への敬意が込められた呼び名とも言えるでしょう。
さらに、印伝に使われている文様の中には、遠く西域や中国から移入され、長い年月を経て日本風にアレンジされたものも多く見られます。異文化の影響と日本の工芸技術が融合した印伝の製品は、まさにあなたの国のエッセンスと日本の美意識が共存する特別な一品といえるでしょう。
🦌 なぜ鹿の革なの？
日本では、鹿は神の使いとされています。 神社の儀式やお供え物にも使われるほど神聖な存在。 印伝に使われる鹿革も、自然と神をつなぐ神聖な素材として尊ばれています。

印伝の表面に施された漆模様には、すべて意味があります。
麻の葉（あさのは）：成長・魔除け
